Pink Panther Style Guide
When MGM invited us to create a new style guide for one of animation’s most iconic characters, we approached the project with both reverence and curiosity. Working from classic assets and developing new concepts for hardline and softline products, we built a comprehensive system that included brand story, character direction, and stationery design.
-
A heritage project for one of animation’s most iconic characters. This style guide was created as a physical, tactile system — housed in a custom canvas box and printed 3‑ring binder — designed to preserve the Pink Panther’s elegance, personality, and mid‑century charm across global applications.
-
Creative direction, illustration, character fashion development, and full system design. This included interpreting the Pink Panther’s personality into posture, wardrobe, silhouette, and expressive range, then translating those concepts into a formal, production‑ready brand guide.
-
The fashion direction originated in my personal sketchbook, where I explored how the Pink Panther might move, dress, and inhabit a more stylized world. These hand‑drawn silhouettes became the foundation for the character’s wardrobe, attitude, and visual rhythm throughout the guide. This was one of the earliest intersections of my entertainment work and my fashion‑driven illustration practice.
-
The final system was produced as a real, archival object:
a canvas‑wrapped box
a 3‑ring binder
8.5 × 11" printed pages
structured sections for character usage, poses, fashion, color, typography, and applications
This physical format was designed for long‑term brand governance — a tool that could live on a shelf, be referenced by teams, and maintain consistency across decades of licensing and production.
-
The guide included:
character poses and expression sheets
wardrobe and fashion direction
color palettes and reproduction standards
typography and layout rules
usage do’s and don’ts
sample applications and merchandising concepts
Each section balanced the Pink Panther’s iconic personality with a clean, structured design language.
-
A comprehensive, tactile brand system that honored the Pink Panther’s legacy while giving creative teams a clear, elegant framework for future use. The project remains a meaningful part of my early entertainment lineage — a bridge between illustration, character design, and formal brand architecture.
